On Thursday, Year 4 had their Exit Point for their topic All Aboard - The Development of the Railway. Our challenge was to plan, design and build a load-bearing bridge which was strong enough to hold a model train. In project teams we decided which materials we would use (some of us had to use dried spaghetti and lasagne sheets), and drew our initial designs. Then we built these using recycled materials. After the bridges were constructed we tested the strength of our bridges using a train borrowed from Mr Bennett. Some of our bridges successfully held the weight of the train, but some collapsed due to the weight of the train. We then thought about how we could improve our designs next time round!
