Year 2- IPC

The children IPC topic this term is ‘Live and Let Live’. Learning about living and non-living things.

On Monday 20th June, the children visited Shorne Country Park. The children explored the pond area by using a net and seeing what creature they could find.

Afterwards they were given the opportunity to draw the different creatures before releasing them back into the pond. Finally, we ended the day playing in the park area!

Year 5 - IPC

In Year 5 we have been investigating and exploring famous Greek and Roman Art. Can you guess what we are doing? Greek Masks. The children have been learning about how masks were used for entertainment. They allowed the actors to express emotions and gender. The creations are incredible.

Year 4- IPC

Today Year 4 started their new topic - Active Planet. We were tasked with making erupting volcanoes. First, we created the volcano using paper and a plastic bottle, then painted it to make it more realistic. After that, we made a solution of washing up liquid, bicarbonate soda and water and added this to the bottle. Once outside, we added red food dye and vinegar to cause our volcanoes to erupt!

Year 6 - IPC

Year 6 had a great start to the week by making potions. This was to prepare us for our instructional writing later in the week! We all planned and designed what our potions would do, how we would make them, and then used a range of ‘magical ingredients’ to see what they would look like! We also had a look at what reactions took place when we mixed certain ingredients together. We are pleased to say that all Year 6 pupils passed their first Potion Making Class at Hogwarts!

Year 3 - IPC

All aboard! Year 3 had a fantastic day exploring our new topic Travel and Tourism. To start the day each child received their own boarding pass. They then made their own passports. We played some exciting packing and suitcase game, as well as a puzzle game of hungry crocodiles. We learnt about cardinal directions and what happens to missing luggage.

Year 1 Entry Point IPC

For IPC this term, Year 1 are covering "A Day in the Life" where we will be focusing on the roles and responsibilities associated with different jobs. To start us off, everyone was given a different job role. We had to think about what we might be doing if we had that job and we used this to help us create an identification card. After, we had lots of fun dressing up and role-playing working in different professions. We had everything from fashion designers to nurses, hairdressers to chefs, cleaners to cashiers!

Josh's Story

Today, Year 6 had a visit from James at Excelsior Safeguarding to kick start our transition Tuesdays. James delivered a workshop called Josh's Story focusing exploitation, peer pressure and bullying, different levels of risk, decision making and the importance of family. The aim was to prepare Year 6 for the different challenges they may face as they move on to secondary school and how to take the right actions and make the right decisions.

Year 6 Entry Point For IPC

Year 6 will be learning about the Commonwealth Games which are being hosted in Birmingham this year. To launch our topic, we tried our hand at volleyball (a new sport to us) and learnt some of the essential skills needed.

As Parent Governor, she will be supporting the school in its goal to ensure that all children at Wrotham Road 'embrace diversity and develop their identities' . Hayley is looking forward to joining the team in September. Thank you to all who took the time to cast their vote and thank you to Mrs Jennie Scott for running as an alternative candidate.
