Year 6 Shorne Country Park

Year 6 had an amazing time at Shorne Woods Country Park today. We looked at ordinance survey maps and found different locations using the key. We managed to find our school too! After this, we explored the ground using a compass and map. This was definitely a challenge but 6M were determined to use the compass and map to help find each post in the challenge. In the afternoon, we completed a geolocation activity. We used a device to help us find certain areas of the park. We walked for quite some time but managed to find them all. The children all thoroughly enjoyed their time today.

TPAT Writing Competition! Closing date this week!

Reminder the deadline is this week!

Year 1 - Entry Point

The circus is coming to town

Year 1 used percussion instruments to follow the rhythm and the beat of circus music. They  listened to the syllables in the words - clown, master and acrobat to make their own music.

Year 4- Entry Point

Year 4 started their new topic - ‘All Aboard!’ (Inventions and development).  To begin their topic, they discussed how railways are used and shared the different places they have travelled to using trains. They imagined a journey that they would like to take by train, and wrote out a special train ticket which enabled them to travel there.  The train tickets were stamped by the conductors (Mrs Evans and Miss Franklin) and then they sketched their scenic view from their imaginary train carriage.

Year 5 - Entry Point

Champions for Change

The children participated in several rounds of debates such as "Which type of pet is the best?", "What is the best TV show?" and "Should we be allowed to wear our own clothes to school?". They had to work collaboratively in teams/parties to create persuasive speeches to convince the rest of the class to vote for their choice.

Year 2 Entry Point

For our IPC entry point in Year 2 we went to our local park. The children used the different equipment and apparatus at the park, and noticed the push and pull forces they used whilst playing. The children enjoyed pushing their friends on the swings, pulling themselves up on the climbing frame and experiencing friction sliding down the slide.

Year 6 - What Price Progress?

This week Year 6 became inventors and were given a bag of materials to design, create and evaluate a futuristic product. Putting their inventor hats on, this is what they came up with! They will be showing off their creations and other designs in an exhibition at the end of term.
