We have therefore been reviewing all of our Admissions Policies to ensure a consistent and equitable approach in relation to pupil admissions to all schools in The Golden Thread Alliance. The Pearson National Teaching Awards

The Pearson National Teaching Awards are the ‘Oscars’ of the teaching profession!

First established in 1998, the awards are an annual celebration of excellence in education, recognising the amazing work of teachers across the UK.

We offer 15 awards categories covering the primary, secondary and FE sectors, open to schools and colleges in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The Awards are an opportunity for your whole school community to celebrate the work of your teaching colleagues, they’re a real opportunity to let your teaching staff shine.

The ‘Unsung Hero’ Award aims to recognise the everyday heroes working in early years settings, schools and colleges, giving them the thanks they deserve, whether it’s a stand-out teacher, friendly caretaker, playground helper or brilliant office receptionist!

It is the only award open to nominations from parents/carers and pupils so do spread the word amongst your school community and encourage them to make their nomination via the form below.  You can also choose to send your nominee a personal thank you message and card via the Thank a Teacher campaign. We’ll follow up with your school to invite your senior leadership team to progress the nomination into a fully-fledged Pearson National Teaching Awards entry and who knows, we could be surprising you live on The One Show!

Year 5 at Shorne Country Park

Year 5 had a wonderful time at Shorne Country Park yesterday and today. Spirits remained high despite the weather yesterday. We learnt how different features of the landscape are represented on an Ordnance Survey map and how to use a compass. After getting our bearings, we set off to find specific waypoints hidden around the woods and record the letters marked on them. After lunch, we went Geocaching using a more high tech handheld GPS device to track down each location.

Ofsted Report 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have now received a final copy of our Ofsted report following the inspection that took place in October 2022.

We are delighted to share with you that our school continues to be judged a ‘Good’ school.

The report states: ‘The school values of enjoyment, confidence, individuality, creativity and independence run like a thread through school life. This reflects pupils everyday experience and inspires them to aim high.’ We feel this is a wonderful remark that recognises the exceptional work the staff have done to ensure the curriculum is broad and ambitious

At our core, we are a community school and we strive to embrace every one of the backgrounds our children come from - to build relationships and develop their personal identities. The inspector noted that ‘Pupils are proud of their vibrant, happy school. They get on well together and are curious about the many different cultures and experiences within their diverse school community. They share their thoughts, take time to hear the views of others and value the kindness that is evident everywhere. Positive relationships between staff and pupils ensure that pupils are known as individuals. There is much fun and laughter. Pupils feel safe. They do not worry about bullying because they know it would not be tolerated.’

With reference to safeguarding, the inspector commented that The school’s safeguarding team have extensive knowledge. They provide regular and thorough training for staff. Swift action is taken when staff report any safeguarding concerns.’ She also highlighted the high expectations leaders have of pupils’ behaviour Pupils’ excellent behaviour extends beyond the classroom as they move around the school’.

Everyone at Wrotham Road Primary School is passionate about creating an excellent school that our pupils and community so richly deserve. I am grateful to the staff, students and families who have been involved with us over the years. Your support, dedication and willingness to embrace change have been the foundations for the improvements we have achieved.

We look forward to continuing this strong upward trajectory in the coming years. We remain committed to guiding all our students in fulfilling their potential and inspiring the wider community.

This is a fantastic achievement for everyone connected to Wrotham Road Primary and is something to be immensely proud of.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Sarah Jack
