Dear Parent/Carers,

As another school year comes to a close, I am writing to thank you for your encouragement loyalty and support. Our children have achieved a great deal in their learning this year thanks to their efforts, the hard work of the staff and our excellent partnerships with you as parents.

It has been particularly busy over the last week due to a visit from Ofsted. The outcome of this will be available to you when we return in September.

We say a sad farewell to Miss Birchmore, who will be leaving us to join the Brent school in Dartford; we wish her the very best in her future career. Mr. Arbiter (Mr Chenard) will be returning to us on a part-time basis in Year 4 and Miss Gent will be getting married over the summer holiday and will be returning to us as Mrs Foord.

The middle leadership of the school continues to grow and from September we will have new phase leaders in post. Years 5 & 6 will be managed by Miss Kate Smith and Years 1 & 2 by Miss Rachel White. Congratulations to both teachers who will work alongside the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) driving the school forward to ensure every child has the best opportunity to fulfil their potential.
We break up on Friday 22nd July at the normal time. Please ensure your child attends to the end of the term. I will be presenting attendance certificates for children that have successfully completed a whole term and also prizes for children that have completed a whole year with 100% attendance from September to July.
Finally, we say a very fond farewell to our current Year 6; we know that they will all achieve great success as they move on to secondary school. We all wish them well and hopefully they will visit us to give us an update on their progress. May I remind you that the Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly will be held on Friday 22nd July starting at 11am (doors open at 10.50am).
Over the summer break a number of new projects will be started:
·       The redevelopment of the KS1 playground; many thanks for all the pupils that have contributed to the amazing design.
·       The canteen will also be having new flooring laid
·       The Year 3 & 4 playground will be resurfaced to improve the cracked tarmac and uneven surface.
I would like to thank the Friends of Wrotham Road who have contributed to the KS1 project and have given the school the opportunity to get the Year 3 & 4 playground project completed sooner than expected.
All that remains is for me to wish you all a wonderful summer. Once again, thank you for your continued support over the last year. Enjoy the break and see you all in September – Please remember, we return to school on Tuesday 6th SEPTEMBER.

Kind regards,
Mrs Sarah Green

Sports Day- KS2 ******CHANGE OF TIME*********

We are all really looking forward to KS2 Sports day tomorrow but due to the predicting temperatures of around 30 degrees, we have moved the sports day races to the morning starting at 10am

Students must bring with them:
  • Sun hats
  • Sun cream (please apply before arriving at school)
  • Water
We have also bought gazebos for each year group so shade is available during the races. If there are any parents available to help put them up tomorrow am, please can you inform the school office.

Hot Weather Advice

As you are aware, the temperature is set to rise over the next few days. As a result, we wanted to remind you of a few things to ensure that your child is safe at school over this hot summer weather period:

Water bottles: it is essential that children bring in a water bottle filled with chilled, fresh water at the start of the day – this can be topped up at school as necessary.

Sun hat: children are permitted to bring in a named, cloth sunhat / light coloured baseball cap to wear.

Sun cream: parents should apply a high factor sunscreen (sun protection factor SPF 25 or higher) on their child’s exposed skin before school, paying particular attention to the ears, neck and face, even if hats are worn. Ideally this should be the single application type so that it does not require re application during the school day.

Many thanks for your support,
